According to the New York Times bestselling author, women need to learn how to use it properly to expand our businesses and careers.
Mistake #6 (of 133) : Overlooking Mentors and Sponsors
Lois Frankel explains that mentors and sponsors help bring progress to your professional career. She defines a mentor as a person who “takes you under their wing” and someone to teach and guide you in the right direction. Many women overlook the significance of sponsors in furthering their careers. Sponsors are people who advocate for you during your absence. Women lack in creating connections that will allow others to speak positively in your behalf.
Lois also emphasises the importance of women leaving a legacy. She states, “What is given is what is expected” in every aspect in life, but especially in your career. It does not matter what your profession is but it is important to leave a legacy to “bring meaning to your work and helping others achieve great work”.
