About Me - My Biography

Lisa Messenger is the vibrant, game-changing CEO of The Messenger Group, as well as founder and editor-in-chief of Collective Hub magazine – an entrepreneurial lifestyle magazine distributed into over 37 countries with a mandate to disrupt, challenge and inspire. Lisa has authored and co-authored 16 books and become an authority in the start-up scene. The Messenger Group has custom published more than 400 books for companies and individuals. Lisa charted her rollercoaster ride to success in best-selling book Daring & Disruptive; Unleashing The Entrepreneur and its sequel Life & Love, which reached #1 on Booktopia. Lisa’s next book, Money and Mindfulness was released late in 2015 and also hit best-selling status within the first month. Adding to her collection of writing achievements, Lisa is also a regular contributor to the Huffington Post and has her own section on Telstra’s Smarter Business Ideas online. Her passion is to challenge individuals and corporations to change the way they think, take them out of their comfort zone and prove that there is more than one way to do anything. She encourages entrepreneurial spirit, creativity and innovation and lives life to the absolute max. With fans including Sir Richard Branson, New York Times Best-selling author Bradley Trevor Grieve, and a social media following of over 100,000, Lisa’s vision is to build a community of like-minded people who want to change the world.

Her Story

Vibrant, vivacious and a self-confessed risk taker, Lisa Messenger found her will to challenge authority quite early on in life. As the head honcho of marketing and publishing company, The Messenger Group, she has challenged the status quo of the Australian magazine industry.

It was Lisa’s launch of one of the youngest glossies on the market, The Collective Hub, that proved to be the biggest testament of her risk-taking. With no prior experience in the field, launching a publication into the murky waters of the declining magazine industry could have very easily been disastrous, but Lisa’s publication has far from sunk. The entrepreneurial lifestyle magazine has picked up pace fast, and is currently sold in 37 countries.

Lisa believes success comes to those who are able to detach themselves from their outcomes.

“Detach yourself from the outcome; those that are too steadfast in their way aren’t able to adapt, morph or pivot. Be clear about your overarching vision but not how exact it plays out.”

Enacting her vision of encouraging creativity and innovation, Lisa has authored and co-authored more than a dozen books and published in excess of 400. Her book ‘Life & Love’ reached the number one spot on Booktopia and was shortly followed with the success of ‘Money and Mindfulness,’ which reached best-selling status within the first month of publication.

Her writing credits also include regular contributions to the Huffington Post, as well as hosting her own section in Telstra’s Smarter Business Ideas online. Additionally, she has also been a three-time finalist for the Telstra Businesswoman of the Year Award.

The growth of her company has not been her only goal, and Lisa is firmly invested in instigating personal growth. Her instruments of choice? Trekking in India to raise funds for charity and riding camels in the Sahara to name a few.

Strategies for Success

1.    Believe in yourself: Have an unwavering belief in yourself and the rest will follow. They only person who can stop you from achieving is you. Forge ahead with resolute self-belief even when the world says “no!”

2.    Know your ‘Why’: You need to completely understand yourself and your purpose. Once you know what you want to achieve, you can do anything.

3.    Fail fast: Setbacks are just that- they set you back. So fail fast and move on without losing so much time, money and resources.

4.    Money isn’t the only currency: Think outside the box, the possibilities are limitless when you think in terms of value exchange. Collaborations and strategic alliances are key

5.    Just do it: There are two types of people, the “implementer” and the “gunna”; The “gunna” always says “they’re gunna do this” and “gunna do that”. Those who put themselves on the line and commit, get a little uncomfortable are the winners. You’ve got to dream big, dream often and let yourself run wild for inspiration and accept that sometimes crazy ideas can make your dreams come true.
