About Me - My Biography

I started my business Golden Girls Assist in May 2014 because I saw the loneliness my Nanna experienced and how upset she was when she told me “All my friends have passed away.” I visit seniors living independently or in Aged care facilities and take them on social outings or have a coffee and chat where they live. I assist with shopping, appointments and errands. I have staff who visit and assist seniors in suburbs around Melbourne.

My Expertise

I completed a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Sociology in 1989. I completed a Certificate IV in Small Business Management in 2014. I have a strong background in customer service through my 8 years working at Monash University in student administration and 7 years working at David Jones.

My Passions

I have a son with mild Autism so I am an advocate for improving the welfare of children and adults with Autism and other special needs. Also supporting the families of children with special needs. I support the introduction of the NDIS to help address these issues. Through my experiences of raising a child with autism, I am very aware of the difficulties of social inclusion for children with special needs. I believe our seniors also face issues of isolation and loneliness because many have health issues and friends pass away so they no longer remain included within their local community. This is one of the main reasons I established my business Golden Girls Assist. To keep seniors engaged and connected within their community. I believe this is very important for their health and well being and society as a whole benefits from their involvement.

My Interests

I love reading, writing, going to the movies, tennis, current affairs and politics, renovating and decorating.
