About Me - My Biography

Candy Tymson is the Managing Director of Tymson Communications. Candy is an expert in business communications with more than 25 years’ experience in the fields of marketing and public relations. Based in Sydney, she is a business educator and professional speaker. Candy is also author of ‘Gender Games: Doing Business With The Opposite Sex’ which explores the different ways men and women communicate (or rather don’t communicate!) in business.

Her Story

Candy Tymson demonstrated her amazing communication & persuasion skills when, as the Lady Mayoress of Sydney, she raised one million dollars in one night at a major fundraising event.

She has more than 25 years managerial experience, firstly heading her own Public Relations agency working for clients such as Telstra, CSR and Westpac and more recently as a professional speaker and facilitator specialising in communication and particularly male/female differences.

She is the author of five books including the ‘Australian & New Zealand Public Relations Manual’ textbook and ‘Gender Games: Doing Business with the Opposite Sex’, named one of the top 10 books of the year by the Australian Institute of Management bookshops.

Candy has a Master’s degree in Human Resources Management and Coaching from Sydney University; is a Fellow of both the Public Relations and Marketing Institutes of Australia and a Past President of the National Speakers Association of Australia.

She is a certified NLP Trainer and an internationally accredited professional speaker (CSP).

Strategies for Success

  1. Have a clear vision of what you want.(What’s your purpose? What result do you want?)
  2. Go public! Let people know what your ambitions and goals are. This will result in people asking how you are going, (a great motivator to ensure that you are doing something) as well as offers of help
  3. Get a coach/mentor. Find someone who is doing it well and enrol their support – or find a buddy who has a similar goal and support each other.
  4. Celebrate your progress. Identify milestones along the way and as you reach them – celebrate!  Not only will this make it more fun, but you will feel that you are getting somewhere.
  5. In the words of Winston Churchill: “Never Give Up”.  Persist, Persist, Persist.
