 – Self-Awareness, Selling with Confidence and Finding Success – With Tina Tower

Tina Tower started her first business at 20 and has sold multiple businesses before reinventing herself as a mentor for women looking to create online courses and programs.

In this interview, we discuss how mindset is key to growth and approaching challenges with the right attitude.

Hiring and building a team had been a challenge for Tina in the past. In this episode, she opens up about how she’s taken the leap and hired a team who are now allowing her to take back some of her time and helping her grow without being the bottleneck in her business.

Tina stresses the importance of self-awareness and alignment with your business model and advises against being a well-kept secret. Marketing is key to success, and speaking to your ideal client when writing sales emails or social media posts is a must.

Her program, Her Empire Builder, is all about helping women build businesses around their online courses. Polarising and targeting specific ideal clients is crucial to building a community of supportive and like-minded individuals.

Playing a bigger game in business means striving for excellence and being world-class, and Tina stresses the value of being visible and connecting with ideal clients.

Tina’s confidence in selling and making offers comes from her conviction in the value of her work, and she’s passionate about helping women find success while maintaining balance in their lives.

My entrepreneurial journey started in the spare room of my Sydney apartment in 1994 when my business partner and I started a boutique events company that represented speakers and authors from the USA, here in Australia. Over the years I’ve grown multiple multi-million dollar businesses in the events, publishing and education niches – with teams in Australia, New Zealand, and the USA. Not everything has worked and there has been a degree of trial and error, and a lot of bumps in the road. But I have always had a strong commitment to always surrounding myself with great mentors and like-minded peers – a Connection Network that I can depend on and who can depend on me to be there for them too. I truly do what I love, every day.

I started my first business at the age of 20, and went from owning a small suburban tutoring centre and educational toy store, to a licence program and then a franchise by the age of 27. After 5 years of franchising I opened 35 Begin Bright centres with 120 staff. After Begin Bright was acquired by an International education company in 2016, I started business coaching other people to scale their serviced based business. There I found myself repeating a lot of the same fundamentals again and again to people who were paying top dollar for private coaching. So, I put the repetitive content into an online course. It went off! To put location freedom to the test, I set off to travel the world for a year with my husband and two children, visiting 28 countries – all while growing my online business in a couple of hours a day. Since returning from travel, my empire continued to grow and it’s been a revelation to me that this ‘little’ online business that is ran from home with a couple of staff makes far more money and has such a greater and wider impact, than I ever did in running a franchise company. I have helped hundreds of people package their expertise into an online course and launch it to the world and through my program, Her Empire Builder, we are on a mission to help 100 women build a $1 million a year business by 2025. I am also an author of two best selling books, One Life – How To Have The Life of Your Dreams and Million Dollar Micro Business. I have managed to win some pretty cool awards like the Telstra National Young Business Woman of the Year Award and Australian Business Champion and have been lucky enough to have been featured on the Today Show, in the Financial Review, on Sky Business and as a Business Woman to watch by Huffington Post. I believe in profit for purpose and have a diploma from the United Nations and use our business to fund scholarships for young women in Kenya to further education. I currently live on a small farm on the Australian East Coast and from there, helps people to develop and grow the online digital business empires.
