Preparing for the First Session

What to expect when HerBusiness allocates a mentoree to you:

  • Peter Johnston (PJ) will be in contact to check with Mentor that they are happy to take on this Mentoree; email will contain Mentoree information and reason match is suited.
  • HerBusiness Office will be in contact to schedule the first session.
  • Mentor will receive written briefing from HerBusiness:
    • PDF of Diagnostic Report and recording of Diagnostic Meeting
    • Notes on Mentoree’s Diagnostic
    • Mentoree Questionnaire (completed by the Mentoree)

Allocate approximately 45 minutes for this preparation.

Preparing for the First Session
The mentoring relationship will be more efficient and more impactful when you spend some time preparing for and thinking about important things: where have you come from, where are you now, where does your skills/experience/stories reflect that of your mentoree, what can you offer as a mentor.

This first session is about connecting and getting to know one another, talking about experiences and building trust. It is important to develop a trusting relationship and not rush to define goals and solve issues.
