About Me - My Biography
After completing my degree in Theatre when I was 22, I came to Australia to seek my fame and fortune. Like many other aspiring actors, I did a small amount of acting work, worked in hospitality and also worked as a children’s entertainer.
When I turned 30 I decided I needed a new focus, and so, I went back to college and studied for my Certificate III & IV in Fitness and Personal Training, whilst also working Full Time as a Cafe Manager.
After completing my courses I made the leap into the fitness industry and started work as a mobile Personal Trainer, a spin instructor and a PT in a boutique gym. Over a couple of years I took on a Full Time role as Gym/Personal Trainer Manager in the boutique gym, and managed recruitment, training and staff as well as continuing to train clients.
Between September 2009 and August 2019 I continued to work and manage the gym. Within that time I competed as an individual at The CrossFit Games in America, and in 2010 and 2011 I competed with a team, I married Darren, the owner of the gym, and we had two children (starting when I turned 40!).
My views on health and fitness have changed dramatically based on my continued learning, my own personal experiences as a competitive athlete, a pregnant (mature age) woman exercising, and a mother and business owner, juggling all of the family and work related issues that life throws at us. I am always tweaking and trying new things when it comes to my health and feel like a living experiment!
And, as well as my own experiences, I have worked with hundreds of clients, so have developed a deep understanding of what makes us tick when it comes to our health and wellbeing. Through my many experiences and experiments I have developed a coaching program which I offer both face to face and online, so that I can guide women as they find the right solutions for their health for the long game.
In August 2019 we sold our gym business and, after 3 months in the UK, we moved to the mid north coast of NSW so that we could slow down and spend more time with our young family. We are passionate about reducing our impact on the environment and we are working towards living a more sustainable lifestyle.
I am passionate about all things health, and how we can take care of our bodies simply and naturally, and I am passionate about sharing my learnings to help others.
I am a qualified Personal Trainer and have worked in the fitness industry for 16 years.
My experiences as a Personal Trainer, having worked with 100’s of clients, plus my own experiences whilst journeying through this life, have given me the skills to help women navigate their health and achieve positive long term outcomes.
I am passionate about all things health and wellness, and I am passionate about how I can reduce my impact on the environment. And, through my experiences, I am passionate about teaching others how they can do it too!
I love spending time with my family, and I love learning how to be a better person from my children.
I love nature and am lucky to have moved to a beautiful part of Australia where I am surrounded by it daily.
I love getting people excited about their health.
I am trained in theatre and, although my passion for the arts has been on the back burner for some time, I have recently joined a local choir and am rekindling a passion for performing!
I am fascinated by human behaviour, and how our thoughts, ideas, and behaviours can shape us.
I enjoy reading and have recently become a fan of personal development, health related and business books, which I’m really enjoying (previously I was nothing but fiction).
How I Can Help Other Members
Of course, I’d love to help other members if they want to dial in their health and wellness, but often find that they are too busy or lack motivation. I offer support, accountability and simple strategies :-)
I’m also keen to offer health tips and advice for those members who have specific questions or challenges.
I would like to meet other members who work in similar areas to me so that I am able to refer people to them if I feel their expertise can help.
Joining the Round Table and Round Up sessions will enable me to share feedback and advice to other members if I can help.
Why I Became a HerBusiness Member
I became a member of HerBusiness because I am new to my business. I have had an idea which has been developing, but I need support, I need to learn more, and I need to find ways of getting the word out there about what I do!
