My Connection Statement
I
I #1
I help busy small tech business owners regain pride in their business messages, and therefore attract more clients, by providing online Website Health Checks and proofreading of business documents.
#2
I help small tourism operators who want to address environmental sustainability in their business, but are unsure about where to start. I support them to set up and maintain consumption targets, record those and help them to possibly become certified with an agency. This is done mainly online, but conversations could be face to face.
About Me - My Biography
Hello!
I have lived most of my life in Germany and immigrated to New Zealand in 2004.
Looking back over my early career, it became clear that English was for me:
- I started working for a company manufacturing electronic items for the American market, so I had to learn all the industry-related terms in English – and I loved it!
- This led to a job where I translated electronic instruction manuals from German to English.
- In another job I was the secretary and all business proposals were done in English, proofread and all.
My working career started when I did my apprenticeship to become a dental technician, which takes three and a half years. I was working in the profession for another one and a half years, when Germany had a huge restructure in their health system and dentures were not funded anymore – so I became unemployed because of lack of experience.
In hindsight that was the best that could ever have happened to me because it brought my thirst for thinking outside the box to live.
After three months of being shattered and eating ice cream to drown my low self-esteem, I took on a job in manufacturing electronic devices in a small family operated company, just to have a job, just to earn my living. I loved it, very quickly I became the supervisor for one part of the operation; I learned a lot there and I am forever grateful that they believed me when I said that I could weld…
After six years I left and from there converted into various administration jobs in the electronic industry, where I stayed for around eight years.
The next big change was a job in an open ended real estate fund in the acquisition department. We bought shopping centres, hotels, and office buildings all over Europe for our investors. I loved it!
And then, finally, I immigrated to New Zealand, on my own, just me and my big backpack. I lived in a caravan for a couple of years and was the personal assistant of the most generous business owner I could ever imagine for around 4 years.
I bought a house by the sea, one of my big dreams I had since being a child, and became unemployed, as the area where I had bought wasn’t very suitable for my skills.
In 2008 I started my journey into contracting, self-employment, casual and part-time jobs – you name it, I did it. From nude modelling for the art students, to cleaning up an architect’s office organisation, to managing rentals, to becoming a pharmacy assistant, to software testing.
Throughout it all there was one common denominator: I spotted inconsistencies and plain mistakes, be it in processes or in the written word, and I became the go-to person to solve process and writing issues.
And then I thought I needed a “real” job again and became a librarian assistant in a high school…
This, together with COVID-19 made me realise that
– I am not born to be in employment
– I am operating at my best when I work on my own
– I have so much to offer to the world, from my administrative skills, to life skills, to just being me and always wanting to help others grow.

How I Can Help Other Members
My knowledge and passion about language and structures and processes can help others transform their own uncertainty about those things. I’m good with grammar and spelling, I see inconsistencies in processes and sentence structure, so – ask away and I can help!
Why I Became a HerBusiness Member
As I am mostly working at my desk, plus I am an introvert, I’m hoping to finally achieve accountability and join a network where I can share knowledge and also ask “that stupid question” without feeling stupid.
My Member to Member Offer(s)
For members of the network I will perform my Website Health Check Medium for only NZ$200 (normally NZ$350)
