About Me - My Biography

I generally work full-time as an IT Project/Program Manager as well as part-time in my partner’s import/export business – QPS Importers. Being a planner and lucky enough to have a supportive partner, I’m able to manage both jobs successfully. I love what I do, which is a great help when things get hectic. I’m one of those calm, sensible people that everyone wishes they had around them in a crisis. I believe that everyone has an interesting story, which you can discover if you’re prepared to take the time to get to know them. I value family and friends. I enjoy running. I only discovered that a few years ago and wish I’d known it when I was younger. I love to teach. I taught high school mathematics for nearly ten years before making the shift to IT in 1994. I am passionate about helping people to improve themselves. I mentor people every day. I love to learn. At the moment I’m learning about social marketing for our business. Professionally, I’m really proud of the fact that when I do my job well people discover that they no longer need me as I’ve taught them to manage without me. I aim to prevent problems from occurring, to sort them out quickly when they do eventuate, and to keep people communicating during a problem situation so that everyone knows where they stand. This combination of planning and problem solving skills translates well into our business. When opportunities come up, we recognise them because we’ve planned. When problems occur, we look for solutions.
