My Connection Statement
I help frustrated solo and micro-entrepreneurs to smooth out the feast/famine client cycles in their business by becoming known as a confident, recognised leader in their field.
I get their journey started through online and in-person workshops, a small group intensive program that launches three times a year, and very, very occasionally through 1:1 coaching. Because this journey is never really done, I also have a membership program to ensure that their learning, confidence, and influence continues to expand
About Me - My Biography
My Big Hairy Audacious Goal: One million people sharing their knowledge so they can stand out as an expert in their field and create opportunities for others, scale their business, leave a legacy, facilitate positive change. If we all share what we know and support others to do the same, imagine the phenomenal and seemingly impossible thing we could achieve.
I love to listen to stories and help others tell theirs, find solutions to problems, open doors to opportunity and share what I have learned with anyone who would like to listen.
I believe that everything is clearer when presented as a story… it is the ‘data’ that humans are programmed to receive after all.
It may be the story of your business and why what you do solves someone’s problem. It may be your personal journey, a moment of immense joy or crushing sadness, a legacy to leave or learning to share. These stories, when shared, can and do change the world that we live in and the very fabric of the communities that we are part of.
I believe that we were put on this earth to do more than to work to generate money to pay bills – that by working together to solve problems and give each other a voice we can all achieve far more than we ever dreamed possible.
If you are not ‘speaking’ then no one can hear you… and what you have to share may very well be the key that unlocks someone else’s prison.

My Expertise
I am a geologist by trade who, after 7 years, changed careers completely without resigning from one of the biggest mining companies in the world…
Since that first pivot, I have pursued a career in Occupational Health and Safety (mining and construction) which morphed into occupational hygiene, specialising indoor air quality, particularly as it relates to water damage, mould growth and impact on peoples health, running my own company in this field since 2004.
Stabilising this company meant that I first had to establish myself as someone who knew what they were talking about, that I was not there to ‘scare because we care’ as a way of generating income. People are not really impressed with bits of fancy paper, they need to trust that you can identify what the problem is, then (most importantly) help them understand the why and the what now, not baffle them with science so you sound clever.
One thing led to another and I found myself doing a lot of presentations – to teams, to organisations, to conferences, to large work teams after even larger projects went wrong, and I loved it… when you get introduced to the WA Minister for Health in the middle of large construction site at 7 pm on a Friday night after the latest drama as ‘The Mould Lady’ – you know your personal brand is getting a little out of control. But, if you want a seat at the table, you can’t be your industry’s best-kept secret.
No matter how awesome mould is, you can only tell so many people so many times that they need to exhaust the moisture from their home to stop mould from growing on the ceiling, and I had no interest in building an empire so I have handed this business over to my niece who is doing a fabulous job with it.
In the beginning, I was not comfortable being the ‘face’ of the business, just leave me to do the science, I don’t like sales etc etc etc but I came to learn that people do business with people, even if you are working business to business and I was the ‘people’… so now I help other businesses with what is effectively ‘content marketing’ so they to can step out from behind their logo and create long-lasting relationships with their favourite type of client.
My media of choice is audio – speaking, recording, editing, sharing… so small and micro business owners can Be the Voice, Not an Echo.
My Passions
If something took everything away and I could only do one thing for the rest of my life it would be teach.
I love. love, love taking complex ideas and working out how to share them in a way that everyone can access; to learn and share knowledge.
I love to listen to people’s stories and always feel so honoured when they choose to share them with me.
I love to create and hold space for people to be heard, to believe in them until they truly believe in themselves.

Why I Became a HerBusiness Member
All of the networking and interactions that I was doing were all about my ‘old’ business where I knew exactly who I was, what we did, and how to all about it. We have a foundation client base of builders, strata managers, property managers, and government agencies that we do ‘all mould stuff’ for and get passed around as people talk so there is no real challenge there (lucky me).
BUT – I have handed this business across to my niece, moved on to my boat full-time in preparation for ‘casting off lines’ and sailing the world when it reopens… Neither my old business nor my bee hives float so now I am starting from scratch in a completely different industry and, other than the ‘never goes out of fashion great customer service basics’ I am not sure that I know how to do that in today’s new age.
I completed coaching week on the recommendation of James Tucker and was super impressed so I jumped in boots and all to see what it was like on the inside… and Wow Wee – I don’t think I am ever getting out of this pool!!!
I am here to learn and help wherever I can… together we are so much stronger and can do awesome things!
