About Me - My Biography

Elise is the owner of Spruce Craft Co. – a business that designs modern, colourful and unique cross stitch patterns and kits. The aim of Spruce Craft Co. is to inspire a new generation of cross stitchers and bring a traditional craft back into the modern world.

Elise created her business on Etsy back in 2015, in the time between finishing university and starting her first ‘real’ job (also known as ‘funemployment’) because she couldn’t find any fresh, young patterns that she wanted to create for herself. She started filling this gap in the market with her own designs that she made available as digital downloads and after 12 months she added cross stitch kits, which she now sells across the globe, as well as at local craft markets. Elise’s designs are helping to reinvigorate a traditional and simple craft, while also bringing back feelings of nostalgia for a once loved pastime.

Elise now divides her time between a her job as a Paediatric Speech Pathologist, and running Spruce Craft Co. – two fields which have creativity and ‘making a mess’ in common!

 

My Expertise

I am a sole trader and a jack-of-all-trades in my business. My main expertise is in designing and creating cross stitch products that are unique and incorporate the latest design trends.

I have a thorough understanding of Etsy operations and my Etsy store is currently one of the top 1% performing stores in the world (on last count there are over 1.4 million Etsy stores online).

How I Can Help Other Members

Areas I’d be happy to discuss with other members are;

– Setting up and operating an Etsy store, working within Etsy guidelines and making yourself visible in a saturated handmade market

– Reducing your reliance on Etsy and establishing your own independent brand, while still maintaining the benefits of Etsy (and not breaking any of their rules!)

– Any aspect of the design and craft world
