My Connection Statement
I help first-time female authors over 50 figure out how to plan and write their dream books through weekly one-on-one online workshops, especially if they don’t know where to start.
About Me - My Biography
Anna Von Zinner – Bio
Anna Von Zinner is an author, editor, and writing coach/mentor.
She grew up in Sydney, Australia, and studied a Bachelor of Business Communication at the Queensland University of Technology.
Anna has worked for The University of Melbourne and La Trobe University, proofreading and editing high-level research and business agreements, student handbooks, web pages, and many other documents. She also worked at Oxford University Press as a book editor.
For more than 35 years, Anna has edited for many educational institutions, corporate clients, and governments as a freelance editor.
In March 2013, Anna suffered a stroke that changed the way that she reads.
Since 2020, Anna has co-authored four bestselling books and has worked closely with over 150 authors to create their written legacies. In so doing, she has come to understand the power of leaving a written legacy.
In February 2021 she founded Book Me Now! an editing and writer coaching/mentoring business. Here she can fulfil her passion of helping first-time female authors over 50 figure out how to plan and write their dream books through weekly one-on-one online sessions, especially if they don’t know where to start.
Her work is supervised (constantly) by two bossy cats.
My Expertise
Over 35 years experience as an editor and writing coach in government and private industry including universities, advertising agencies, PR agencies, small businesses and anywhere else they need someone who can spell and write!
My Passions
Observing – A writer always observes. Mostly quietly but sometimes invoking a reaction in others that can be stored for use at a later date.
Reading – I have been a reader since the age of three (or so my mother told me). I live in a house surrounded by books. I own literally thousands (well over 5,000) volumes that are both fiction and non-fiction. I read every day.
Writing – I practice what I preach! I write every day. Some of it can be seen publicly on social media and some of it is just private notes for (and to) myself. I am writing a book too!
Knitting – It’s an every day pastime. I knit blankets (with a friend) that go to the homeless, refugees or the elderly – anyone who needs one. They are always well received. We make about one single bed size blanket every month.
TV – I am addicted. I would go hungry before I gave up my Netflix subscription. I have always loved tv. I am a true child of the television age. I prefer the company of a tv over the noise of a radio. (I allow myself to watch tv because I will always be knitting when watching tv so there are no idle hands.)
Steam trains – LOVE, LOVE, LOVE steam trains. Happily travel by steam to wherever the day trips take me. Always meet new people and see new places. Love the joy that steam trains bring to people as the trains chuff by. I have seen the old biddies rush to their front gates and wave. I have also seen cars speed up, doors flung open and occupants rush out to the tracks so they can wave and admire the train as it goes by. So much fun and such a joy for the passengers and the people who see the trains.
Photography – I love taking photos and I learned how to do it “properly” as a part of my Communications Degree. I have had a camera in my hands since I was eight and now I always have a camera handy. (My mobile phone takes brilliant photos). My favourite things to photograph are floral weeds, bugs, flowers and fungi – most of which I can find in my own garden. I also like taking photos of the unexpected.
My Interests
Travel – I’m a solo traveller. Happy to go wherever I want. Always feel safe. Love mixing with the locals and learning about my destination from their view.
Gardening – I’m not so good at it but there are times when my garden looks ok – lol.
2nd hand shops – I like the rummaging, the thrill of the chase, and the delight in discovery of an unexpected treasure.
How I Can Help Other Members
I can edit documents, agreements and books. There isn’t anything I haven’t seen over the course of the last 35 years!
I’m fast and efficient.
I can teach you how to plan your book. (A must before you start writing!)
While my ideal client is 50 plus I also work with younger clients to create their books. I learn from and laugh with them just as much as I do with the older authors.
I have contacts in the publishing world if you need your book formatted and launched onto Amazon and other bookselling platforms.
Anything is possible as long as you don’t give up!
Why I Became a HerBusiness Member
I want to become more visible to my ideal clients and that will hopefully encourage them to write. Everyone has a story and that story needs to be told. There are no guarantees and no promises about what your legacy will be be but I know that a book can be forever. Whether your book is for your family or for the whole world, it is your chance to leave a mark on the world and say “I WAS HERE!!”
I also want to share what I know. (And I know heaps!!)
I want to reduce the fear and mystery around writing your own book. Believe me, something magical happens to a person when they say “I’m an author” or even better “I’m a best selling author” and it is within the reach of most people.
