About Me - My Biography
Over the past twenty years, I have successfully run a number of businesses both in Brisbane and London. These businesses specialise in publishing, residential renovations, and bookkeeping.
During this time I have gained a wealth of knowledge in publishing and business development. There is always something new to learn so I am passionate about continuing with my professional and personal education.
In 2012, I was given the opportunity to take over ownership of Post Pre-press a typesetting company working primarily with traditional publishers. To maximise our skill set and a vast network of editors and designers I set up Independent Ink in 2015. To work with authors wishing to self-publish and stay in control of the process.
I am a mother to four children which has given me experience in child psychology, mediator, mind reader, taxi driver, time management and everything in-between.
I am passionate about offering each individual client a high-quality stress-free service where attention to detail and the client’s needs are paramount.
My Expertise
Listening to people and helping them achieve their dreams.
When an aspiring author first starts on the publishing journey the process can be daunting and confusing. I am an expert in bringing out exactly what it is they wish to achieve, starting with the end in mind. Working with traditional publishers we have gained the expertise that allows us to produce a professional book for the self-published author.
As a team, we are experts at time management. Publishing is all about deadlines and we pride ourselves on meeting these. As a mother of four (five if you count my husband) I am constantly working to a timetable and can’t survive the day without a list.
My Passions
I am passionate about storytelling and entrepreneurs. We all have a story to tell and have something valuable to share with the world, we just need to find our voice.
The voice of women worldwide. We have come a long way since Rosalie Bogner and Merle Thornton chained themselves to the bar of the Regatta Hotel in 1965 but we are not there yet. I am passionate about influencing my three daughters to stand up and be counted.
Other passions include
- Live Music
- Theatre
- Dancing
- Feeding People
And the list goes on . . .
My Interests
People, reading, design, art, listening to stories, cooking, travel, personal & professional development, learning to love exercise.
