About Me - My Biography

As a talented multi media artist with over 30 years experience Alison Archbold works from her art studio at her rural property just outside Canberra in NSW.

Alison has loved art and animals since she was a child and you will see that animals feature heavily in most of her works. Inspiration is is never far away with her interesting gardens & menagerie of creatures.

Embarking on her diverse artistic career in her teens, Alison began with handmade jewellery. She went on to teach art classes in the 1990’s which included various styles of painting and hand painted ceramics, then broadened her portfolio to hand painted furniture and outdoor artworks, mosaicking, marbling, malachite, antiquing, faux stone, statue repair work, large trompe l’oeil murals, and even hand painted coffins.

Alison has created and sold her artwork through a variety of shopfronts, online and from her art studio.  She has been a contributor to several art and craft magazines including Australian Country Craft and Australian Handmade Magazines, & her farm studio is open to the public for a weekend in October once a year, as part of the Queanbeyan Arts Trail.

Over the years, her  business, Archbold Design has been commissioned to do large scale murals and tromp l’oeil in Canberra, Queanbeyan, Thredbo, Sydney and country Victoria, as well as artworks and interior design for clubs, retirement villages, consultation rooms, café’s, shops, private homes and businesses. Corporate clients have included Westfield and major federal government departments.

Wanting to work more from home, and looking for a way to get her art out to more people, Alison decided to open an online store and to design ranges of Greeting cards, Gift cards and prints. Alison was adamant that not only should all of her products be of excellent quality, but they should all be Australian made, preferably local, and come from ethical sources including Forestry Approved paper stock for her card products. Another point of difference is that each card has a full complimentary coloured blank inside.  It was about a year after launching her Greeting card and Gift card range, Alison “accidentally” invented the Bottle card, which is a Greeting card designed for a bottle.  This product was recently patented 2018101789 and also Australian Design Registered 201810836, and is now available in a brand new purpose built merchandising box.

Alison has created gorgeous ranges of cards that include Budgies, Dogs, Cats, (including the Dog & Cat Rescue animal ranges), Farm Animals, Gardens, Abstracts, Women and Wine, Native animals range and more. Each design is available as either a small gift card, greeting card, bottle card, or a limited edition numbered print.  Alison’s vision is to create beautiful vibrant original artworks that make people smile, & bring colour into peoples lives.

As previously mentioned animals are very important to Alison, and that is why Archbold Design proudly sponsors local animal rescue organisations.  In the past, they sponsored Hear no Evil deaf and blind dog and cat rescue, plus Angryface Transport, who pick up dogs from pounds around Australia, then place them with foster carers and make sure they are trained and properly health checked before rehoming them in their forever homes.  Currently they are sponsoring 4Lyfe Rescue a small local rescue, doing big things!

All Archbold Design products are currently available online, or in selected gift shops, wineries, Independent supermarkets, vets, and other quality stores around Australia.
