In this herBusiness podcast interview with the author of 22 Leadership Fundamentals: The Door to Success Says Push!, Alison Vidotto shares her insights into the basics of great leadership.
We discuss how to find the authentic leader in you, why leaders are made and not born and why the door to success says “Push”. We also look at how to lead as an introvert and why you don’t need to have followers to be a great leader.
Alison also talks about gaining revelation to your purpose and vision, as these aspects of leadership will help you see more clearly the direction in which you are heading towards. Following this, purpose and vision also needs to be communicated to your team in order to build a unit that shares the same perspective and goals.
As a businesswoman, philanthropist and mother of six, Alison has had many years of experience of learning about leadership in business, community and family life.
In her book she emphasises the importance on being your authentic self as a leader, that is to be true to who you are as a person before being able to lead a team well.
The heart of Alison’s book is based on the belief that anyone is capable of being a leader, no matter the area of life or career pursued.
Leadership, Alison says, ultimately begins with yourself and is something that can be learnt by anyone who is willing to learn. In her words: “we are all capable of great leadership — it doesn’t matter where you start or what you’re doing; what matters is you use the resources available and tap into those resources and get in touch with the leader within”.
