Mentoring Program Overview

The HerBusiness Mentoring Program consists of a minimum of 4 one-to-one mentoring sessions between a mentoree and a mentor, typically running over a 6 month period. Mentorees are men and women who own/operate a small business, either full time or part time. Each mentoring session is one hour in length and is conducted via Skype or telephone at a time and date convenient to the mentor and mentoree.

Mentorees apply to participate in the program. HerBusiness vets all applications to make sure that the individual and their business will benefit from and are ready for the rigours of mentoring. Once they have been accepted and have booked into the HerBusiness mentoring program, each mentoree receives an online diagnostic to complete, and the report is reviewed in a 45 minute diagnostic review meeting with an experienced mentor. A detailed report indicating how their business in faring across 8 key business metrics is provided to the mentoree. This information is used to first determine their goals for the program and secondly to match them to the mentor who will best help them reach their goals.

HerBusiness matches mentorees with mentors on the basis of skills, experience, specialist know-how and availability.

A briefing, a recording and a copy of the individual mentoree’s diagnostic and report is made available to the assigned mentor prior to the first mentoring session.

By the end of the Diagnostic meeting the mentoree will be clear on the areas that would be useful for them to focus on and be mentored in — such as marketing, business planning, technology and financial plans. As mentor, you will provide your business knowledge and experiences to enable the mentoree to apply their working business plan to their business and achieve their goals and objectives.

After the initial four sessions (the minimum requirement), and by mutual agreement, your mentoree may wish to add more sessions. A high percentage of HerBusiness mentorees choose to extend their mentoring relationship.
