How Bridget Hallam Transformed Her Passion for Adventure into a Business Built on Two Wheels
“Mindset is the foundation for everything you want to achieve. Be open to constant learning and expanding your thinking.”
Bridget Hallam is the founder of Throw Your Leg Over, a business built around adventure, courage and helping others experience the world on two wheels. What started as a way to share motorcycle journeys has grown into a multi-faceted business including guidebooks, an Adventure Membership, luxe European Alps tours, and a podcast for women who ride, and now, in 2026, motivational speaking.
At Throw Your Leg Over, Bridget and Alan help motorcyclists explore beyond their familiar roads and build the confidence to experience the thrill and freedom of true motorcycle adventure. They’ve intentionally designed their business to be run from anywhere in the world, often from the seat of their motorcycle. Bridget is especially passionate about inspiring and encouraging women on their motorcycling journey.
Throw Your Leg Over was born from a desire to not just tell stories, but to help other riders create their own. That passion for both adventure and service continues to shape every offering in Bridget’s business. For Bridget, business is also a creative outlet, from developing new ideas and designing guidebooks to bringing offers and experiences to life.
Having travelled over 200,000 kilometres across 45 countries, both solo and alongside her partner Alan Cox, Bridget’s journey is a reminder that confidence isn’t a prerequisite for action, it’s something that’s built along the way.
“Being a member of HerBusiness gives me a supportive community of incredible businesswomen. Suzi has a phenomenal depth of knowledge and shares so generously. She encourages, educates and challenges us.”
BRIDGET HALLAM
Bridget Hallam has been a Growth Network member for five years this year, and the sense of community has been a key part of her experience. She has embraced all aspects of the Network, from retreats and Growth Groups to regularly attending member events and in-person programs like the Advanced Offer Creation workshop, consistently investing in both her business and personal growth.
Alongside her existing work, Bridget has recently expanded into motivational speaking, a goal she set for 2026, and has already secured her first engagement. Drawing on her experiences on the road, she shares practical insights on courage, uncertainty and decision-making, helping audiences take action without waiting for everything to feel certain.
Bridget’s business reflects the life she’s intentionally created, one filled with freedom, creativity, meaningful customer impact and, of course, plenty of adventure.
A Q&A with Bridget Hallam
Who is your favourite entrepreneur and why?
I admire everyone who has the courage to run a business.
I respect many entrepreneurs, for the unique strengths they each bring and what I am learning from them.
Anyone who is living life as themselves and pursuring their path (whatever that is) inspires me.
Why did you start your business and what gave you the idea?
A friend casually observed that we’ve ridden so many roads, we could write a book. Fifteen months later, we self-published a motorcycle guidebook for south east Queensland and northern NSW.
We were excited to share our favourite riding routes with other riders.
Now we share motorcycle adventures through three guidebooks, a monthly membership and tours in the European Alps.
What do you enjoy most about running your own business?
I love the creativity — from designing our books and our website to creating a unique route for our European Alps tours, and of course, getting to play with all the marketing.
I love the freedom we have to design our business to fit the shape of our lifestyle.
I love that our favourite thing to do — motorcycle adventuring — is central to our business.
What three pieces of advice do you wish you’d been given when you started?
- Design a business model will make it easier for you to ‘ski-lift’ customers from one offering to the next.
- Define your ideal client. Get to know them really well. Learn their language so when you speak with them, they recognise themselves. See everything through their eyes. Focus on the transformation you offer them, not ‘the thing’ you offer them.
- Mindset is powerful – everything follows from that. Educate yourself. Soak up the wisdom from others who are ahead of you in this business game. Challenge what you think you know. Be open to taking the next giant scary step into what’s possible. Trust your instincts of what’s right for you and your business.
What advice would YOU give someone thinking about starting a business?
Surround yourself with supportive fellow-entrepreneurs and be supportive in return – the magic of this can’t be overestimated.
What skills and knowledge areas would you recommend those starting out in business get acquainted with quickly?
Marketing, marketing, marketing.
There’s no point being the world’s best kept secret – it’s depressing for you and your ideal client misses out on something really awesome.
What does your IDEAL business look like? Even if you’re not there yet, what would it look like if your business was ideal?
A community of wonderful motorcyclists who are planning and experiencing amazing adventures that they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.
A flourishing membership, more guidebooks, more tours through the European Alps.
Flexible to fit our nomadic lifestyle.
Profitable and sustaining our own adventures.
Fun!
What problem does being a Member of The Growth Network solve for you and your business? And, how?
1 – The isolation and loneliness that comes with running your own business. I’ve met the most incredible, generous businesswomen in HerBusiness.
2 – Education – I’ve learned so much from Suzi, all the guest speakers and so many HerBusiness members. It’s a joy to be in an environment where we’re stretched in such a supportive way.
Thanks, Suzi and the fabulous HB team.
