About Me - My Biography

Lara Solomon, winner in the NSW Telstra Micro Business Awards 2008, has struck gold since finding the motivation to leave her high-profile career to start a new business and launch an unknown product in to the market place… making a success of it (a million dollar success that is!)

LaRoo is the brainchild of Lara Solomon and the company that brought Australia (and the world) the original mobile phone sock or “Mock” – now an iconic brand with over 1.6 million Mocks already sold worldwide in Australia, New Zealand, UK and USA.

Lara’s first book: Brand New Day – The Highs and Lows of Starting a Small Business was published in 2008. It is the diary of her first four years in business – from 2004 to 2007. There is an entry or two every week and at the end of each month she says how much money she has in the bank, how she is feeling and what is happening with staff. It has been described as “Bridget Jones crossed with Richard Branson” and has been inspirational to readers.

Social Rabbit was born in 2010 when Lara recognised a need for small, medium and large businesses to take advantage of social media – in particular Facebook. After huge success with the Mocks fan page (over 12,000 fans in three months), Lara started Social Rabbit to educate people through hands on workshops and offer consultation to larger companies to enable them to have the same success.

2011 saw Lara use the insights she gained from training people in social media to launch Steps. Steps is an online training program for Facebook pages and LinkedIn. Nowadays, Lara is pretty busy with her four quite different businesses, plus she does public speaking on topics such as social media (surprise, surprise), marketing, business startups, exporting, Facebook, LinkedIn and more.
