Jodie Fried is the Founder/Designer of Bholu, a design company specializing in home furnishings and kids products, which are manufactured in Australia and brought to life by the hands of traditional women artisans of Gujarat, India.Jodie's background is a NIDA graduate as a set and costume designer. She can be credited for the costume designs for films including Romulus, My Father, and Candy, not to mention theatre designs with The Royal Shakespeare Company, Almeida Theatre in London, Bell Shakespeare and Company B Belvoir in Australia.The philosophy behind Bholu is about creating beautiful products while benefiting and sustaining communities in the process. By using their traditional skills, women artisans gain an income, thereby giving them independence from workshops, and allowing the children time to be children.As a Fair Trade and Climate Neutral Company, Bholu's range of high end home wares promote social responsibility and awareness, along with sophistication, intelligence and integrity in design.
