I help choosy flower lovers to send or receive they really want – Flowers that are fresh on delivery day and last well. I’m a creative studio florist working in inner Melbourne to fulfil your flower needs. I deliver in vases or beautifully wrapped with thoughtful attention to detail and care.

 

About Me - My Biography

I’m Janie Rose and I’m Scottish lass by birth.  I arrived in Australia in 1981 at the age of 18 with my family and I’m now 57 with my own family.  I had an idyllic childhood with my parents and my sister and I certainly didn’t want to move to Australia at the age of 18.  I hated the Aussie accent and was convinced that everyone would be called Bruce and Sheila.

Fast forward what……almost 40 years (yikes) and I’m now an Aussie chick through and through.  I Love Melbourne with a capital L.  I am happily married (very rare after 25 years LOL) and have 3 adult kids – Charlie 23, Dylan 21 and Eli 21.  We have had quite a journey with Eli who was born Ella and has been transitioning from female to male since he was 15.  I’m in awe of him every single day and he is a much happier young man than he was a young lady.  I am incredibly proud of all my kids and indeed my husband, Martin.

My working life has always been in marketing and PR.  I started off in a small media company and quickly moved onto Channel 10, Channel 9 (Sydney) and finally Village Roadshow where I worked for over 10 years.  I was made redundant when I was 35 weeks pregnant with Charlie – my, how the World has changed.  I had a truly great career and loved all my jobs.  My husband and I bought a Franchise company in 2006 and we stripped it back and built it up to the 180 strong franchisee team it is today. This company is Blue Wheelers Wash, Clip and Groom. It is a mobile dog grooming franchise system.  You might have seen the Big Blue Dogs on the road.

In early 2019 we employed a fabulous GM to take over the running of Blue Wheelers and I decided to study floristry.  Petal and Rose was launched in September 2019 and I’ve been growing it slowly ever since.  I am besotted by flowers and dogs.  We have our own Lulu Labradoodle – we all love her more than each other LOL.  I still get excited with every single flower order I receive.

Petal and Rose is not a hobby but it is a passion project and I’d like to grow it considerably from where it is now but not so much that I have no life.  At 57 I have to find the balance.  I love my family and I love my life.

I’m into cooking, pilates, walking, nature, cycling, dogs, flowers, style and networking.

My Expertise

I love creative work and working with different vessels for flowers.  I embrace any brief at all but I thrive on a large budget where I can really work my magic.  I have a signature style of tulips that I love to do which is actually very simple but highly effective on a table.

My Passions

Flowers, Dogs and not in that particular order!

I love working with stunning florals and being able to create a vision for a table or a corporate event.

My Interests

Flowers; Cycling; Nature, Walking, Cooking; Dinner Parties; Watching repeats of my fave TV like Sex and the City and ER.

I have a strong marketing background but did my learning in the pre digital world.  I am reasonably digitally savvy, but I can certainly talk through strategy and I’m a great pep talker when you are hitting the wall.  I could have been a great life coach but I just wanted to be around nature.  I can certainly help with any flower requirements – naturally!  Happy to offer 10% off my Fierce Fondness flower package and I deliver free to the following areas:

Why I Became a HerBusiness Member

I really have joined to network and further my business experience.  I love the idea of the accountability in small groups and actually getting on with the work on my business that needs to be done to firmly put me on the map.  I have great results from Google but crap results from IG and FB – much learning to be done about the sales funnel etc.
