About Me - My Biography

Carmel Molloy is CEO of WSPA Australia, a position that she has held since January 2012. In that time she has managed a team of 25 people, successfully implemented the launch of WSPA’s 2012 Bricks for Bears campaign as well as managed the biennial partnership with The Body Shop, which this year gained a record 77,000 signatures. Under Carmel’s leadership, WSPA Australia is now the charity’s second biggest fundraising office globally.

Carmel’s most recent role prior to this was as owner / director of Samsara Furniture and Homewares, a Sydney-based retail store with a lifestyle philosophy. Her love and care for animals has brought her back to the charity world after selling that business.

Her most recent prior not-for-profit role was as National Business Manager for children’s charity, Camp Quality. Within this position, Carmel was responsible for all facets of business development and fundraising nationally. She built the business case for the first donor management program in Camp Quality’s history and was a member of the Senior Executive Team reporting to the CEO and Board of Directors.

Carmel has also carried out other senior positions within children’s organisations, at both Starlight Children’s Foundation and Kids Helpline. At Starlight, Carmel was the Executive Director of Brand and Communications, whilst at Kids Helpline she was National Fundraising and Marketing Director. Prior to this she had extensive experience within marketing agencies.

Carmel has specialised in building strategic partnerships, both business-to-business and between not-for-profits and corporate companies. She has worked with internationally recognised companies such as McDonald’s, Nestle and Disney. At Kids Helpline, Carmel secured Optus as a major sponsor to the charity.

Also at Kids Helpline, she built ‘Business Chicks’, the premier women’s business networking event, in order to attract businesswomen to the cause. It attracted thousands of women Australia-wide, before being sold to private enterprise.
