Australian Businesswomen’s Network CEO and Community Director, Suzi Dafnis, has taken to Women’s Agenda to explain: “how to gain the recognition you deserve”, and the importance of recognising businesswomen through avenues such as a Hall of Fame. Suzi Dafnis puts it simply that “women are not being recognised in the business community”, and that business remains a sector that is not open to enough acknowledgement.
“Recognition begins on a smaller scale. For women to be recognised in the wider community, they must be ready and willing to acknowledge their own accomplishments. Women need to stand up and make themselves, and their achievements, known,” Suzi says.
Women need to position themselves publicly through techniques such as networking, use available resources, and simply to ask for recognition when it is due. The Australian Businesswomen’s Network Hall of Fame is a step towards more recognition, not only through acknowledging great achievements, but also providing role models for business owners or those considering starting a business.
